Laser Hair Removal Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a patch test for laser hair removal?

If it's your first time with us, we will complete a patch test before we start your laser sessions, to ensure we have the right settings for your skin tone and hair type. A patch test will be performed, and we will wait 48 hours to ensure no skin reaction has been experienced before proceeding to treatment.

Can laser work on my skin type?

Experience the transformation with our Laser Hair Removal treatments. Not only are they safe and low-pain, but they also deliver fast and effective results. No matter your skin tone, our treatments are suitable for everyone. Your patch test will ultimately confirm whether laser is your best hair removal solution.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser Hair Removal is very low pain – it feels a bit like a warm rubber band snapping against your skin. During your patch test you can determine whether laser is painful to you.

If you do experience any mild discomfort after your treatment, such as redness or itchiness, we recommend applying a soothing aloe vera gel.

Does laser hair removal work immediately?

This can vary from person-to-person, depending on your hair type, colour and growth, but completing the advised number of sessions with a minimum of 6-8 appointments will give you the best results.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser Hair Removal does not remove hair forever, but it does permanently reduce hair growth by 80%-90%. You should only need a few top-ups each year to keep your skin smooth and hair-free.

If you have PCOS laser hair reduces the hair growth significantly.

How many laser sessions do I need?

Each individual's hair type, skin tone, and ethnicity play a role in determining the ideal treatment plan. Your highly skilled therapist will create a personalised plan that is tailored to your unique needs. Typically, we recommend 6-10 sessions, but this may vary.

How long should I wait between laser treatments?

Treatment intervals for different areas vary. Generally, treatment is recommended every 4-6 weeks, while hormonal areas like the face may require treatment every 2-4 weeks.

Can laser hair removal be used on all hair colors?

The effectiveness of laser hair removal depends on the level of pigment in the follicle. Unfortunately, this means that we are currently unable to effectively treat extremely blonde, white or grey hairs.

If you have red hair, we advise you to schedule an appointment with one of our skilled therapists. While treatments can still impact red hair, the degree of hair reduction may differ from the anticipated 80-90%.

How do I prepare for my laser session?

During the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment, it is recommended that you avoid waxing, tweezing, or threading the areas that will be treated. However, shaving during your treatment course is acceptable.

To ensure optimal treatment, please shave the designated area 12-24 hours prior to your appointment.
